wide variety of skills during a career that includes over 30 years in real
estate, eleven of them on San Juan Island.
Annette, a prior contractor, has an impressive resume that include many years of hands-on experience in architectural design and
residential construction. She also created and operated Grandmere's
Inn in Nevada City, CA - rated one of the best B&B's in
California - before moving to San Juan Island
sixteen years ago.
Annette's interest in the quality of one's home goes all the way to
the time when she was a little girl. She remembers, at age six,
walking down local streets, staring at homes and thinking to herself
what she could do to improve them. "I would look at
houses," she recalls, "and think how I could make them
better."
As a young adult she began to practice what she preached by entering
what was largely a man's world, putting on her tool apron and
working professionally in all phases of home construction and
remodeling.
The knowledge Annette picked up during that phase of her career has
provided her with valuable insights that she now passes along to real
estate clients who rely on her to accurately assess the
homes they are looking at buying. "I point out things people
may not see, because my eye is trained to see what could be
improved," she says, acknowledging that the clients appreciate
the information.
Annette also exudes a self-confidence based on the view that anyone
can do whatever they put their mind to. It is a view she has
continued to hold throughout her life.
Buying or selling a home can be heaven and hell…all wrapped up in
one exhilarating and incredibly stressful package. What both the
homebuyer and seller need is a professional who pays attention.
"I listen," she says, "I like people and understand
it is all about customer service."
There are so many kinds of people and they all need different
things. But one thing is sure, they need a professional...who is
also a real live human being...who cares about their needs and
desires. That is what Annette Schaffer is all about.
Annette
is thoroughly involved in her profession and has served on the San
Juan County Board of
Realtors® as past president, vice president and
on the board of directors. She is currently the 2008 president of the board of realtors.
Annette has lived on San Juan Island for
the past 16 years and loves the island way of life. She enjoys an active personal life including
walking, biking, kayaking, cooking and traveling.
